Philosophy

“Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever… It remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.”
A. Siskind

MARCIE KILLIAN CONNALLY

I use photography as a means of self-expression, and as a way to satiate my intense curiosities. I make pictures for myself, for the pleasure of others, and to help people identify with hidden qualities of their character.  A clearer understanding of myself, and of the world, allows me to explore fragments of life as an abstract form, and interact with people I might otherwise not be able to engage with. My goal is to use my camera like Alice’s rabbit hole - to open an unexplored world, a place of curious self-expression, but also a world of new relationships, new chances, new beginnings, and most importantly new stories.

I live and love in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  My passion is portrait photography, but sometimes the most common objects catch my attention, and I feel compelled to capture their beauty.  I am a mouthy, liberal, queer woman who takes great pleasure in working with open minded folks, and other members of my LGBTQ community. Beauty spans across gender, societal expectations, and identities. You are safe with me.
